What’s happening in the food, beverage and tourism scenes?

Local food and local drink are huge in the Finger Lakes region, which the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce has long recognized.

Inspired by ongoing developments in the region’s travel and tourism marketplace, the Chamber is hosting an event June 3 called “al fresco flx” to talk more about and experience what is happening on the agritourism, food and craft beverage scenes.

This will be a day of dialogue among current and aspiring influencers in the high-potential specialties of farm-to-table, agritourism and craft food and beverage. The event, which will be presented by Lyons National Bank, will be held at the Ramada Plaza Geneva Lakeshore Resort.

Recent changes in consumer habits are “making something big out of being small,” Ethan Fogg, executive director of the Canandaigua Chamber, said in a prepared statement, “so we’re hosting al fresco flx to inform, connect and inspire small to medium-sized businesses, whether they’re involved in the movement or just curious.”

The day’s program will include panel discussions on issues like supply and demand and curating the guest experience; work groups will explore ways for firms to tell their story more effectively and how to adapt their business plans to changes in the industry.
