Delaware River Solar has announced an open-house informational event for its proposed Yellow Mills community solar project planned for the Smith family farm.
The event is open to the public and scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Farmington Town Hall, 1000 County Road 8.
“Open Houses are very effective to inform the public, and we are grateful the Town has offered space for this event. Solar farms are a safe, proven and passive way to convert sunlight into renewable energy," Daniel Compitello, solar developer with Delaware River Solar, stated in a press release. "DRS is proposing to build three 2.38 megawatt solar systems in the Town of Farmington, which can power over 1,000 local customers. Similar to hundreds of other solar farms across the Northeast United States, these will be the first solar farms built in Farmington, in adherence with the Town’s 2017 zoning laws regulating solar, if they are approved by the Town.”
