The Ontario County Office for the Aging Advisory Council held its 32nd annual Senior of the Year award celebration Friday with the theme “Create, Connect, and Contribute.”
Town supervisors presented the awards and local leaders spoke of how critical volunteerism is for the elderly in the community during the luncheon at Quail Summit in Canandaigua.
“Our seniors are so incredibly important to our community,” said State Sen. Pam Helming, R-54, of Canandaigua. “Thanks to you and the work you do.”
Helming said the volunteerism of those being recognized allows local politicians the ability to fight for them in Albany.
