Canandaigua girls turns back Spencerport to take Class B lacrosse crown

The Canandaigua girls lacrosse team was right.

Each time the Braves broke a huddle during the Section V Class B Tournament Final on Wednesday, they said “together,” just like thousands of high school teams.

And sticking together was the way the Canandaigua Braves were able to turn back a determined top-seeded Spencerport team fueled by a serious amount of disappointment in sectional finals.

Lexi Braniecki, a junior at Canandaigua, scored the game-winning goal in overtime to push the Braves past Spencerport 9-8 at Pittsford Sutherland. Canandaigua has it’s second title in three seasons, this one during coach Ronnie Davis’ first season with the team.
