The Dresden Fire Department has served the village and the surrounding Town of Torrey since 1894, and Saturday, June 1 they are serving again by inviting all of Yates County and beyond to a huge anniversary party to celebrate those 125 years. The Dresden FD decided to mark their quasquicentennial not with a formal parade and uniforms and a sit-down dinner, but with a fun-filled and relaxing day of food, games, and entertainment.
The block party style festivities include an all-you-can-eat cookout with hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage, salt potatoes, and soft drinks for just $10. Beer and wine, donated by Climbing Bines Brewing and numerous area wineries, are also available for purchase.
The fire engines will be on display for everyone’s inspection and enjoyment, including the all original 1921 Brockway, the beloved mascot of the department. Kids can draw from a grab-bag, and each child will receive a firefighter hat.
