The Ontario County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. today on the proposed 12-month pilot project for organics removal at the county landfill.
The hearing will be at the county Safety Training Facility, 2914 County Road 48, Hopewell.
The hearing will seek public comment on a proposal from landfill operator Casella Waste Services to establish a program and equipment to separate organic material from recycled bottles, cans and other containers brought to the landfill for recycling. The organic material would be saved and taken to off-site anaerobic digesters. The remaining material would be recycled when practical.
