Helping Red Jacket students soar

For Nadine Fox, the best way to conquer her fear of heights was to take to the skies — by flying a plane.

“It feels like you’re not going to fall,” said the 15-year-old Red Jacket High School sophomore.

As one of the six members of the school’s flying club, Nadine and her clubmates participated in the group’s second annual fundraiser at the Canandaigua Airport on Saturday. Visitors purchased chicken barbecue meals provided by catering company CR7 with potatoes and coleslaw for $12. Baked goods and beverages were also available for purchase.

According to club adviser and Red Jacket Superintendent Charlene Dehn, all proceeds from the fundraiser go directly toward the students’ flying lessons.
