Auburn plans water protection crackdown with commercial properties

Many commercial properties in Auburn are likely to receive notices from the city saying they need to install water protection devices. These properties would be responsible for paying for the installations.

Under Auburn’s city code and the New York State Sanitary Code, all commercial and municipal properties and some residential sites need these devices to prevent back flow — an unwanted reversal flow of water that could cause contamination.
