Roy Brown, wrongfully convicted in Cayuga County murder, dies at 58

A man wrongfully convicted of killing a Cayuga County social worker has passed away 12 years after proving his innocence.

Roy Brown, 58, died in Florida last week, CNYCentral reports.

Brown spent 15 years in prison for the murder of social worker Sabina Kulakowski, 49. She was found stabbed and strangled near her farmhouse in Aurelius on May 23, 1991.

At the time of the murder, Brown had been recently released from jail for making threatening phone calls to the director of the social services agency where Kulakowski worked. Brown was identified as a suspect.
