Yankees secure 27th straight winning season with win over Tribe

Exhibiting his effective fastball-slider combination, Masahiro Tanaka turned in his second consecutive strong outing as the Yankees bounced back from a lopsided defeat in the series opener and edged the Indians for a 3-2 victory on Friday evening at Yankee Stadium.

Tanaka held Cleveland to two runs and four hits over 6 1/3 innings, permitting solo homers to Jose Ramirez and Yasiel Puig. The Yanks were pleased with the performance, but Tanaka watched in apparent agony from the dugout railing as Tommy Kahnle escaped a seventh-inning jam, striking out two batters to maintain New York’s lead.
