Sled hockey team in Central New York welcomes people of all abilities

The CNY Flyers sled hockey team started in 2009, sponsored by Move Along.

Move Along is an organization that provides recreational activities for people with physical limitations.

The team is comprised of people as young as 10, and for most of the sled hockey players, their legs don’t work.

Sled hockey is very similar to ice hockey. The only difference is the equipment, where members use specially designed sleds with blades to get around the rink.

For many of these players, it’s more than just a game.

“I came out, tried it, and it was actually here in Skaneateles. I tried it that day and I’ve been pretty much hooked ever since then. I love playing,” said Cody Arnold, a member of the CNY Flyers.
