Governor Andrew Cuomo is under fire after dropping the N-word in a radio interview during a discussion surrounding discrimination against Italian Americans.
During the interview with WAMC — an Albany based radio station — host Alan Chartock, Cuomo was quoting a recent New York Times op-ed, called ‘How Italians Became White’.
“The Times also said in an article the other day, apropos of nothing, they were talking about it,” said Cuomo. “Going back to the Italian Americans because now you have me. They used an expression that southern Italians were called quote-unquote, and pardon my language, but I’m just quoting The Times, n—-r w—s. N-word w—s as a derogatory comment.”
The comments come just a month after Cuomo’s brother and CNN anchor Chris Cuomo was at the center of his own controversy following a confrontation at a bar in August, where a man referred to him as “Fredo”, a character from the “Godfather” movies.
