Driver located in apple orchard after leaving scene of Wayne County crash

Investigators say alcohol was likely a factor in a crash that happened in the town of Marion on Saturday.

Duane Rush, 47, of Penfield was traveling north on Ridge Chapel Road and lost control of his vehicle, according to deputies.

The vehicle left the road, striking a fire hydrant at the edge of a field.

Witnesses say that the operator then left the scene and continued northbound.

Deputies say the vehicle was found a short distance later, and Rush a short distance away from the vehicle laying in an apple orchard.

He was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, according to deputies, who say that Rush complained of neck pain at the scene.

Investigators say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The investigation remains active, though.

Williamson Ambulance assisted at the scene.
