NWS issues Winter Storm Watch ahead of lake effect snow

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for parts of the region ahead of some wintry weather that’s expected to make a return.

Forecasters with the NWS say that upwards of 6-9 inches of snow will be possible beginning Wednesday night, and the threat of that snow will continue into the day on Thursday.

The Watch is active from 7 p.m. until 1 p.m.

Counties included in the Watch are Wayne and Northern Cayuga. Heavy lake effect snow is possible throughout the event.

Travel could become difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility. Hazardous conditions will be possible and could impact the Thursday morning commute.
