Police: Newark man gave car for person to use who didn’t have permission

The Seneca Falls Police Department reports the arrest of a Newark man following an investigation into a vehicle that was given away by a person who did not own it.

Joseph Schutt, 32, of Newark was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and misapplication of property.

The arrest stems from an incident during which Schutt possessed a vehicle belonging to someone else beyond a previously determined period of time, then allowed another person to use the vehicle without the owner’s permission.

Police say Schutt was processed at the Seneca Falls Police Department and arraigned in the Town of Seneca Falls Court where he was remanded in lieu of $500 cash or $100 bond.

He’s scheduled to appear at a later date.
