Lyons man charged with attempted murder after sword attack leaves victim hospitalized

Investigators say a Lyons man was charged with attempted murder after attacking a person with a sword at a home during the early-morning hours.

Joshua Alexander, 30, of Lyons is accused of attacking a man with a sword causing a severe laceration on the neck. The incident unfolded around 2:25 a.m. at a residence on Jackson Street.

The victim was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he remains in guarded condition.

Investigators say Alexander was charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. He’s currently being held at the Wayne County Jail.
