YMCA locations, private gyms all preparing for increased safety measures when allowed to reopen

Local YMCA’s and private gyms are working out the way they could reopen – sooner than later – in New York.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said they would need a plan. While they are working to come up with those plans – many of them will include interactive Q&A’s.

“They’ll go to a website and answer some questions,” Chief Operations Officer Kevin Fitzpatrick told 13WHAM. “If they answer them correctly – and, again, we hope they’re truthful – they’ll get that green check, and they just have to show that green check when they come into the Y, then they’ll be able to self scan in.”

Tall Trainer Fitness Systems in Canandaigua is also working to come up with a plan. Jeremy Biernat leads daily boot camps. He says nine clients per class, each person in a twelve foot square will allow for social distancing.

These are just some of the things that are happening. What would you need to see to make you comfortable returning to the gym? Or are you ready to go now?
