With the Formula One season back up and running now that Covid-19 slowly passing and lockdown restrictions being eased, the races are coming thick and fast. Verstappen took the win last week at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix in impression fashion and he will want to capitalise on this win again at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Even after his win last weekend, Verstappen is down at third favourite to win the Grand Prix at 5/1, behind Hamilton and Bottas who are priced at 8/13 and 7/2 respectively; these kind of odds can be found at Gambling Sites Not on Gamstop, a site that has all the best markets for Formula One but without the worry of being restricted by the scheme Gamstop.
Mercedes strategy wasn’t on point, which is uncharacteristic of Toto Wolff and co, so they will be working tirelessly this week to ensure they are doing the most to get themselves back onto the top of the podium. Recently they’ve been struggling with tyre wear and blistering issues which nearly lost Hamilton the British Grand Prix as he crawled over the finish line. With the Spanish Grand Prix being a similar track as Silverstone is the form of being demanding on tyres, Mercedes will want to put this right as soon as possible.
Verstappen has now taken himself above Bottas in the race to be World Champion and now only 30 points behind Lewis at the top of the rankings. Verstappen has been seriously consistent this season with last weekend being his 4th consecutive podium finish; a run of form he would like to continue into the weekend.
Toto Wolff has come out and said that Mercedes can’t get complacent due to their recent years’ dominancy, and that they aren’t going to be run away leaders like they have been in previous years. In fact, he went on to say: “I’m really curious to see and interested to see how we’re going to do in Barcelona. We have a handful of days to understand, and there is nothing better than a great challenge. We embrace the challenge, we love the fight, and they’re a strong competitor and Max is a very good driver.”
