In mid-November the COVID-19 outbreak at the DeMay Living Center in Newark had grown to 72 residents and 46 employees.
As of December 2nd those figures had ballooned even more. There were a total of 89 resident cases, and 52 staff members with the virus.
The facility, which is operated by Rochester Regional Health reported that 37 staff had been allowed to return to work.
Altogether there have been nine deaths at the facility connected to the virus.
RRH says they continue to screen employees prior to the start of their shift for symptoms. If they show symptoms they are not allowed to begin working. They are also using personal protective equipment and testing weekly as directed by New York State Department of Health.
