Elmira man arrested after trying to break in to car in Yates County

Deputies say an Elmira man was taken into custody in Yates County after attempting to break in to a vehicle that was for sale at the corner of Route 14 and Route 54.

Jose Matos, of Elmira was charged with criminal mischief as a first-time offender.

Deputies say he was located at the north side of a building on Route 14 and was taken into custody without incident.

Through investigation it was determined that Matos caused damage to the Ford Mustang, which was for sale at the property.

He was processed and released.
