For the first time this season, the Buffalo Sabres have won three consecutive games.
The Sabres picked up a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes in a shootout on Sunday night at the KeyBank Center.
Buffalo (27-27-4) fell behind 2-1 with just over five minutes remaining in regulation before Owen Power sniped a game-tying goal in his return to the lineup to send it to overtime. Each team traded chances in the extra five-minute period, but it would head to a shootout, and Casey Mittelstadt netted the game-winner in the fourth round.
Jeff Skinner also found the back of the net, while Dylan Cozens, Kyle Okposo, Zach Benson, and Peyton Krebs tallied assists. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen recorded 30 saves and stopped all four of the Hurricanes shootout attempts.
Both teams went 1-for-2 on the power play and had 32 shots on goal.
The Sabres will get the day off Monday before they head to Florida for a two-game road trip, starting Tuesday when they visit the Panthers at 7 p.m.
