The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced ongoing progress on the $12 million disaster mitigation project for State Route 54A along Keuka Lake’s west side. This project aims to enhance drainage and other infrastructure to mitigate heavy rain impacts and prevent travel disruptions. Despite typical seasonal work limitations, the scope of this project necessitates continuous work from June 21 through Labor Day to ensure timely completion.
The project, scheduled for completion by spring 2025, includes installing a new water main for the Village of Hammondsport, coordinated to minimize disruptions with a single work zone. NYSDOT emphasized the importance of adhering to temporary traffic controls and flaggers to maintain safety and project efficiency.
NYSDOT expressed gratitude for public cooperation, highlighting the long-term benefits of the upgrades, which will significantly improve roadway safety and resilience against severe weather conditions.
