Crosman Corp., a longstanding manufacturing presence in East Bloomfield since 1971, will vacate its facility by the end of the year, potentially leaving dozens of workers without jobs. The decision follows Crosman’s recent acquisition by Daisy Manufacturing Co., based in Arkansas.
“This is a big blow to our town,” East Bloomfield Supervisor Fred Wille told The Canandaigua Messenger last week.
While some manufacturing operations may remain, most of the 140 employees face layoffs starting in September.
Local officials hope another company will be attracted to the 50-acre site.
