Corning Inc. has secured up to $32 million in federal funding to expand its Canton, New York, facility, creating over 300 jobs in semiconductor manufacturing.
This preliminary agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce, announced by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, will support Corning’s production of specialized glass essential to the semiconductor industry.
The expansion aligns with the CHIPS and Science Act, aiming to strengthen U.S. manufacturing in critical industries.
The Canton project includes 130 permanent jobs and over 175 construction roles, advancing Corning’s position as a key supplier of components used in microchip manufacturing—a critical asset for the North Country’s economy and national security.
