Grimmway Farms has recalled certain organic carrots due to potential contamination with a strain of E. coli linked to severe illness. The affected products, sold under various labels including Trader Joe’s and Wegmans, were distributed across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
The recall includes whole carrots sold between August 14 and October 23 and baby carrots with best-by dates from September 11 to November 12. Consumers are advised to discard these items and sanitize storage surfaces. The CDC reports 39 related E. coli cases in 18 states, resulting in one death and 15 hospitalizations.
Grimmway Farms is reviewing its production processes to ensure safety. Customers are urged to act immediately to protect themselves and their families.
