The Wayne Central School District recently announced that Liam Keeney, an 11th-grade French horn player, has been accepted into the prestigious Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RPYO). Membership in the RPYO is a significant achievement, requiring a challenging audition that includes a level 5 solo, sight-reading, and a performance before judges and the RPYO conductor.
As part of the RPYO, Liam will engage in a year of intensive musical training and performance, including touring Boston and Montreal, collaborating with Boston Symphony musicians, and performing alongside the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in the Side-by-Side Concert.
He’ll also take the stage at Rochester’s premier venues and participate in enrichment trips. Recently inducted into the 2024 Chapter of the Wayne Central National Honor Society, Liam exemplifies excellence in both academics and the arts. He is the son of Joe and Yelena Keeney.
