Tyre Home Devastated by Fire: Departments from Four Counties Battle Flames

A major house fire on Gravel Road drew an extensive multi-agency response Tuesday afternoon, as firefighters from several districts worked to contain the flames and prevent further damage.

The initial call came shortly before 1 p.m., prompting a swift response from fire departments across Seneca, Ontario, Wayne, and Cayuga counties, including Clyde, Fayette, Geneva, Waterloo, Savannah, Junius, Seneca Falls, Montezuma, Throop, Union Springs, and Aurelius. North Seneca Ambulance and additional crews provided support.

Clyde Command initially took charge, coordinating the efforts as units began arriving on the scene. Firefighters deployed its ladder to flow water onto the structure while ground crews worked to make entry and tackle the fire internally, according to Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire. Multiple tankers, including those from Montezuma and Union Springs, shuttled water to support firefighting efforts.

Firefighters focused on controlling the blaze and initiated ventilation to clear smoke from the structure. Reports from the scene indicated progress in containing the fire, but it remained active for over an hour as crews fought to extinguish hot spots.


Canoga other units were dispatched to cover the Tyre area while emergency resources focused on the fire. NYSEG was also on the scene to address utilities. As of the latest updates, firefighters were making progress in suppressing the flames, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
