New York State Supreme Court Justice Erin P. Gall will resign on January 1, abandoning her appeal against removal after a 2022 incident where she invoked her judicial status, made threats, and directed racially charged remarks at Black teenagers during a party dispute.
Gall cited threats against her family and intense public scrutiny as reasons for dropping the appeal. Despite defending her actions as a trauma response and expressing remorse, the Commission on Judicial Conduct deemed her behavior a severe violation of judicial ethics.
Suspended with pay since July, Gall will leave her $232,600-per-year role and is permanently barred from holding judicial office again. She is reportedly seeking new employment.
