The Excelsior Scholarship offers free tuition for eligible SUNY and CUNY students by covering remaining costs after other financial aid is applied.
To qualify, students must be full-time, complete 30 credits annually, have a family income under $125,000, and have lived in New York for at least one year. Applications are due by Feb. 3, and students can apply at hesc.ny.gov.
Current recipients must renew their FAFSA, TAP, or DREAM Act applications annually. The scholarship covers two years for associate degrees, four for bachelor’s, and five for approved extended programs.
