Commander Andrew McGovern, a Canandaigua native, has assumed command of the USS Texas, a fast-attack submarine.
The change-of-command ceremony took place on January 10 in Groton, Connecticut.
The USS Texas operates globally under SUBRON 12, specializing in undersea combat and challenging deployments.
The Navy highlighted McGovern’s extensive leadership experience, which has prepared him for this critical role.
