Geneva’s updated short-term rental (STR) regulations, approved last June, are now fully active. Property owners must register online, obtain a $250 two-year permit, and pass inspections to ensure compliance with rules designed to minimize neighborhood disruption.
Inspections begin this month.
City Manager Amie Hendrix tells the Finger Lakes Times that it aligns with New York’s new statewide STR registry and expressed optimism about implementing an occupancy tax, which requires state legislative approval.
The revised regulations simplify previous requirements, such as eliminating special-use permits and adjusting parking rules.
