A Pew Research Center study found that news influencers—social media figures with over 100,000 followers—played a significant role in shaping perceptions of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.

While most influencers mentioned both candidates, Trump appeared in twice as many posts. Posts about Harris were often more critical than supportive, whereas opinions on Trump were more evenly divided.

Partisan leanings affected content: right-leaning influencers posted more frequently and were largely supportive of Trump, while left-leaning influencers were critical of him and supportive of Harris.

After the election, criticism of both candidates dropped, though support for Harris declined significantly among left-leaning influencers.
