Lansing schools see slight increase in state aid

Lansing Central School District (LCSD) is set to receive a modest 2% increase in state aid for the 2025-2026 school year, amounting to just $6,887 more than last year. Additional funding may come if the district reports completed capital projects to the state.

One such project, the non-pipeline alternatives (NPA) initiative, focuses on upgrading Lansing Middle School’s HVAC system for better energy efficiency. Other construction projects approved in 2023 could also contribute to increased aid.

Despite rising costs, LCSD expects a budget surplus of $800,000 due to lower health care and supply expenses. The district is also hopeful that updated poverty data calculations will benefit local schools in future funding distributions.
