Tenney pushes for UN sanctions snapback on Iran

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney introduced a bill urging the UK, France, and Germany (E3) to reinstate UN sanctions on Iran, targeting individuals involved in nuclear and missile activities. These sanctions would impose asset freezes, travel bans, and export controls.

Senator Pete Ricketts led the effort in the Senate, while Congressman Josh Gottheimer joined Tenney in the House. They argue Iran has expanded its nuclear program and funded terrorist groups under the Biden administration. The legislation pressures E3 allies to act before the snapback mechanism expires in October.

Lawmakers stress that lifting sanctions enables Iran’s destabilizing activities, threatening global security. The bill aims to restore measures lifted under the Obama-era nuclear deal, reinforcing the Trump administration’s Maximum Pressure campaign.
