Federal inmate transferred to Oklahoma for execution

  • Staff Report

Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered the transfer of federal inmate George John Hanson to Oklahoma for execution, following President Trump’s directive to enforce the death penalty more aggressively. Hanson was convicted in the 1999 kidnapping and murder of a 77-year-old woman in Tulsa.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond praised the decision, which reverses the Biden administration’s refusal to transfer Hanson. The inmate has filed a petition to stop the transfer, but Bondi and the Justice Department have recommended its denial.

If the transfer proceeds, Hanson could be executed as early as June. The move aligns with Trump’s push to expedite capital punishment cases.
