Electric vehicle drivers visiting the Finger Lakes now have a new fast-charging option, thanks to the latest EVolve NY installation by the New York Power Authority (NYPA). Four high-speed charging stations are now open at Clute Memorial Park in Watkins Glen, providing a convenient stop for visitors attending NASCAR events, wine tours, or outdoor adventures.

The fast chargers, located at 155 S. Clute Park Drive near Seneca Lake, are part of New York’s expanding EVolve NY network. Each station is equipped with combined charging system (CCS) connectors capable of delivering up to 350 kilowatts, allowing drivers to charge their vehicles in as little as 20 minutes under ideal conditions.
“With more than a million visitors coming to Watkins Glen each year, this expansion ensures that EV drivers have a seamless and accessible experience,” said Justin E. Driscoll, president and CEO of NYPA. “This fast-charging bank also highlights NYPA’s commitment to working with local governments to make electric vehicle travel more convenient.”
Watkins Glen Mayor Laurie DeNardo emphasized the importance of the charging stations for both residents and tourists. “We are elated to bring this service to our community,” she said. “This is another step in our ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainability.”
The Watkins Glen site joins a growing list of EVolve NY chargers in the Finger Lakes region, including locations in Geneva, Bath, Preble, and Victor. More stations are planned for Skaneateles and Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands region. The network, which now includes 232 chargers at 56 sites statewide, aims to support New York’s goal of making all new passenger vehicles zero-emission by 2035.
The new fast chargers are operated and maintained by Electrify America, with no subscription or membership required. Drivers can locate charging stations through apps like EV Connect, PlugShare, and Google Maps.
