The high school basketball regular season concluded Thursday with four Wayne-Finger Lakes boys games, two of which were decided in the final seconds.
Jamire Johnson poured in a season-high 33 points, including 19 in the second half, as Lyons came from behind to beat World of Inquiry, the team that handed them a loss earlier in the season and held them to their lowest scoring output. Meanwhile, Palmyra-Macedon also won a nail-biter, thanks to Logan Bauer’s clutch three-pointer with three seconds left in regulation.

The Griffins were on the verge of extending their lead to seven with 1:35 remaining in regulation when Contrell Parker made a momentum-shifting defensive play for the Lions. The junior flew across the court to block what originally looked like an easy layup. That ignited a rally for Lyons as they outscored World of Inquiry 7-1 over the final 90 seconds to secure the win. Freshman Jah’Zyree Smith led the comeback, scoring all seven points during the run and finishing with 18, including 12 in the fourth quarter. His and-one layup put the Lions ahead by one with just 15.9 seconds to go. World of Inquiry did have a chance to tie or win it at the line with 0.9 seconds left but missed both free throws.

That shot proved to be the game-winner as the Red Raiders snapped a three-game skid.
