A Painted Post woman has been arrested following a grand larceny investigation into the alleged misappropriation of more than $45,000 from the Corning-Painted Post Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and a local union.

New York State Police launched the investigation after receiving a larceny complaint from the Calvin U. Smith PTA. Authorities determined that Kari A. Warner, 35, acted as treasurer for both the Calvin U. Smith PTA and the Corning-Painted Post Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Union 8710. From August 2024 to January 2025, Warner allegedly stole a cumulative total exceeding $45,000.

On February 26, Warner was arrested and charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony. She was taken to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment and later released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in the town of Erwin Court at a later date.

Authorities have not disclosed how the stolen funds were used or whether any restitution efforts are underway. The investigation remains ongoing.
