Patients at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan now have access to advanced imaging technology with the unveiling of a new digital X-ray machine and renovated radiology suite. The project, made possible through community donations and funds raised during the hospital’s centennial celebration last year, was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on February 27.

Dr. Jose Acevedo, President and CEO of Finger Lakes Health, emphasized the importance of the new equipment in improving patient care. “This investment represents our commitment to increasing access to high-quality healthcare at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. This latest X-ray technology will allow for faster and more accurate diagnoses, enabling us to deliver the quality care that the residents of Yates County deserve locally,” Acevedo said.
The Finger Lakes Health Foundation played a key role in funding the project, with support from a broad coalition of donors. Joan Grela, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, expressed gratitude to those who contributed. “On behalf of the Foundation Board, I would like to thank all of our donors who made the purchase of this state-of-the-art X-ray equipment and room a reality,” she said, recognizing contributions from Centennial Circle donors, local organizations, community members, and hospital staff.
The addition of the digital X-ray machine marks a significant upgrade for the hospital, improving diagnostic capabilities and enhancing patient care for the Penn Yan community.
