A Pennsylvania woman was arrested in Penn Yan late Friday night after police found a man bleeding heavily from a head injury in an alleyway.
Tricia A. Richardson, 46, of Jersey Shore, PA, was taken into custody on charges of assault in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and harassment in the second degree, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Officers responded to a complaint and found the injured man on the ground. Richardson directed police to the victim and initially claimed he had tripped and hit his head on a concrete step. However, during questioning, she reportedly made several contradictory statements.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, which showed Richardson engaged in a physical altercation with the man. Police say she pushed, slapped, and grappled with the victim multiple times before causing him to fall and strike his head on the step.
Emergency medical personnel treated the man at the scene before he was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for further care.
Richardson was processed at the Penn Yan Police Department and later transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment. Authorities intend to seek an order of protection for the victim.
