Sabres three-game win streak snapped with road loss to Flyers

The Buffalo Sabres (30-36-6) saw their three-game win streak snapped in a 7-4 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers (30-36-9) on Saturday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center.

Jack Quinn led Buffalo’s offense with two goals and an assist, while JJ Peterka added a goal and an assist. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 25 saves in the loss.

After falling behind 2-0 early in the first period, the Sabres battled back. Quinn cut the deficit in half at 10:57, finishing a setup from Peterka. Peterka then tied the game 2-2 early in the second, redirecting a pass from Ryan McLeod. Quinn gave Buffalo a 3-2 lead on the power play at 8:13.

However, Philadelphia responded quickly. Matvei Michkov’s breakaway goal tied it before Noah Cates put the Flyers back on top. The Sabres couldn’t recover as Owen Tippett and Tyson Foerster extended Philadelphia’s lead in the third.

Alex Tuch provided a late spark with a shorthanded goal at 15:05, but the Flyers answered seconds later to seal the game.

Next, the Sabres continue their three-game road trip in Washington on Sunday when they visit Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals at 3 p.m.
