Multiple fire departments responded to a fully involved house fire that broke out Wednesday in Cayuga County, according to the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire.

Aurelius Engine 2 was first on the scene and confirmed it was a working fire. Crews quickly deployed two hand lines and a deck gun to battle the flames. A unit from Owasco also arrived to assist, along with other apparatus from Waterloo, Clyde, and Union Springs. Aurelius’ Command 3 took control of the scene.

The fire’s intensity prompted a rapid escalation. By the time overhaul began, the bulk of the fire had been knocked down, according to fire command. Waterloo’s Rapid Intervention Team was placed back in service soon after.

Crews remained on scene for overhaul operations, carefully wetting down hot spots. However, command discontinued the overhaul a short time later.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released.
