Local artist Josh Sperling plans to transform Lansing’s former IGA building into a private art and furniture studio, according to The Tompkins Weekly.
Sperling, who bought the 9,300-square-foot property last August, aims to consolidate his workspace and expand into furniture design.
The building, once a grocery store and roller derby venue, requires upgrades including a new septic system and sprinkler installation.
While the studio won’t operate as a showroom, it will open to the public during the Greater Ithaca Art Trail.
