Lt. Todd Day of the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department will lead an Active Shooter Workshop at Burdett Presbyterian Church. The 2-hour program is planned Tuesday, October 14th, starting at 6:30pm at the church, 3995 Church St., in Burdett. The overall topic for the presentation is for the acronym ADD, A-Avoid D-Deny D-Defend. Lt. Day will discuss how to avoid active shooters, how to deny them access to you and how to defend yourself against active shooters. Lt. Day will cover what to do when facing an active shooter situation, the psychycology behind the way people react to stressful situations and ways to overcome the stress; different ways to secure yourself in a room during an active shooter situation and what to do if an active shooter makes entry into the room you are in. There are several video’s relating to different active shooter events that have occurred over the years. Lt. Day will discuss the different ways people reacted to those events.
