Auto -Truck – Motorcycle (ATM) CRUISE IN SENECA FALLS AIMS TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER
SENECA FALLS – On Sunday, August 26 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. a small group of local organizers will hold their 2nd. A.T.M. Cruise in Seneca Falls.
The event will be open FREE to the public, and aim to promote camaraderie within the local community. “Many people view Seneca Falls as a small community with history and high taxes,” Dan Elias explained. He along with three others came up with the concept for a car show, which would be all-encompassing, and bring the community together. “People are staying more isolated & not getting to know their neighbors. Neighbors to me include Geneva, Waterloo & other surrounding areas,” he continued. “We are not professional promoters. However, we feel if we can bring people together, on the common ‘love’ of autos to meet old friends and make new ones, it’s a ‘positive’ for the community.”
Their first show was held, in the Tractor Supply Co. parking lot in the Liberty Plaza, which was recently refinished by plaza ownership. The response was terrific, for a 1st. new event. Over 30 vehicles (autos, trucks & motorcycles) were registered. Even a vehicle from the Buffalo area. Fourteen (14) Door Prizes were given out during the event.
“The support we’ve received from Anna Plumlee, Tractor Supply Co. Manager and her staff, has made the entire experience awesome,” Elias added. Bruce Bardo, and Ron & Susan Bird, round out the organizational team, which has worked tirelessly over the last few months building up to the event.
Waterfalls Catering provided refreshments, while Sprinkle Starship will serve ice cream treats, according to Elias.
Inspiration for the event series came from a lack of events that were open to ‘all cars’ and the general public. “The four of us have or had various vehicles such as customs, hot rods, muscle cars, sports cars, trucks and motorcycles throughout our lives. Both old and new. Many shows or cruises target specific vehicles and years. We thought by engaging the entire community we could spark more camaraderie within it.”
This second event will be held on Sunday, August 26 at the same location. “Given that we’re new to the community, a modest turnout could be possible – but we’re hopeful that both events will be a positive experience,” he continued. “It’s a stepping-stone for the community; and we’re really just trying to embrace and build on the camaraderie that exists already.”
