Theatre444 is proud to be partnering with the Mynderse Academy Drama Club to produce the musical Pippin this summer. With an infectiously unforgettable score from four-time Grammy winner, three-time Oscar winner and musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man’s journey to be extraordinary. Winner of four 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival, this updated version of Pippin will captivate and appeal to the young at heart.
Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father, King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day. Don’t be fooled by the age-old story…Theatre444 is updating this tale with a video game twist!
With a talented cast hailing from multiple cities, audiences can expect to see pieces of themselves in these beloved characters. Joseph Gonzalez of Geneva plays Pippin, the young prince that is searching for his happiness. Pat Fegley (Geneva) plays his father King Charles while Abigail Adams DePrau (Rochester) plays his step mother Fastrada and Damon Fletcher (Seneca Falls) plays his arrogant stepbrother Lewis. Paula Lipker (Romulus) plays Bertha, Pippin’s sassy grandmother. Marilla Gonzalez (Geneva) plays his love interest Catherine with Peter David Norton (Rochester) playing her son Theo. The show is driven by the Leading Player played by Allauna Overstreet Gibson (Geneva). This 25 person cast will charm and amaze you as they come from all over the fingerlakes region.
